In this episode of the 411 Live, Beverly Taylor talks to Dana World-Patterson, Chairperson of the Human Trafficking Task Force of Greater Milwaukee.
There were literally crickets around the topic of human trafficking in Wisconsin and Dana states, “12 years ago the narrative was this was an inner-city black girl, no father, poverty problem.” The thought that a person could be in the life through force, fraud, and coercion, was a different mindset and that meant they were victims of human trafficking and not there because they wanted to be there. If you’re a child, it’s automatically human trafficking because a child cannot consent to have sex. Dana says, “If you’re a community and you don’t have people coming together and learning and growing for one purpose and that’s to eradicate sex trafficking, I would say bring those key players together or even those who are concerned where you can agree that your purpose is to learn, grow, educate and raise awareness about human trafficking.” Join us as we address just how bad sex trafficking is in Milwaukee and if you need a human trafficking task force in your community.
