After watching this video, uncertainty about GM food impacts is one reason for widespread public suspicion.
GM food could sound harmless right? And even a good idea. But the question is do you know the whole story because there is a lot more to it and big food companies pay big money for you not to have the right to know what’s in your food. Unlike the strict safety evaluations required for the approval of new drugs, the safety of genetically modified foods for human consumption is not adequately tested. There have been NO long-term studies conducted on the safety of genetically engineered foods on humans.
According to a 2014 report by Consumers Union, labeling would cost consumers about 1 penny per day. Producers change their labels all the time and don’t increase the costs to their customers. Once people KNOW what is in their food, they can then make the informed choice to avoid the potential health risks of GMOs until more research on their long-term effects can be done.
So you may ask the question, what are GMOs, why should I be concerned about them, and what are alternative food choices? The answer to your questions is RIGHT HERE!
