In this episode of The 411 Live, Beverly Taylor talks to Lamar Love, an ex pimp and now Executive Director of Vessels of God.
We discuss the life of a pimp, the trend of what it was back in the 70s, and how one gets to such a life style. Lamar Love was willing to be very open about his experience in this life style and how his upbringing lead him down this direction. Remembering his life as a child, he recalls seeing the Johns coming to his neighborhood where they would find little resistance given the fact they were bringing money to the area. He goes on to say, “You know, at the end. It wasn’t so much a criminal act. It was a matter of survival. This was something that was necessary or a welcomed circumstance which allowed us to survive, to allow us to live.” Lamar Love dives in even deeper to what seems to have been the origin of what he part took in with the sex trade world.
He highlights how extremely poor he and his family was. How women voluntarily got into the sex trade world to make ends meet. And how this later evolved into him and a few men partnering with women to take the sex trade more organized. Lamar also explains how sex trafficking now a days if very different to what it was like when he was younger. Follow along as Beverly Taylor and our guest, Lamar Love, look into the perspective of the mentality of a pimp.
